ROCK THE RUNWAY Join us this year on Saturday, March 9, 2019 for DYG’s 46th annual fashion show. This year, our fashions are provided by MJ Fashion & Gifts and Marguerite’s Catering will cater the event. The proceeds from this event funds post-secondary scholarships for the youth of Dunedin. Rock the Runway promises to be rocking event.
We regret to inform you that long time member Mavis Street passed away on June 10. Mavis joined our Guild in 1970 and was president in 1991-1992. She was very creative and worked on the boutique for many years. Many of us still have her beautiful name tags she made for the fashion show committees. For years she made shadow boxes for the presidents that were presented to them at the end of their term. Mavis was a valuable member of the Guild and will surely be missed. There will be two visitations for Mavis on Friday, June 15 at Moss Feaster, 1320 Main St.
The Holiday Tour of Homes will be Saturday, December 2, 2017. We have four great homes, the Dunedin Fine Arts Center, and six apartments at Mease Manor to show during this tour. This year there is a change in venue for the Tea and Boutique – it will be in the auditorium at Mease Manor. With the change in Tea locations, our duties as members will change a little – but we still have plenty of jobs to do. Please read the list below and start planning how you can contribute to the success of this year’s tour: Giving Trees (opportunities are sold to win these).
“Drop Off Your Drawers” October is the month for this project for Clothes to Kids. The Guild participates by contributing underwear which is given to children who qualify to “shop” at the Clothes To Kids store (babies through teenage) . Oftentimes children who are suddenly taken into foster care leave their homes without any clothes or personal items at all. This project helps make sure that they have new underwear. All sizes are needed but there is sometimes an extra need for larger sizes, even adult sizes for some of the teens. It must be in the package or hanger or tagged – please don’t take it
Join us at Applebee’s in Palm Harbor for a fundraiser on Saturday, October 28, 2017. Time: 8:00 – 10:00 am. Tickets are $10 and this includes pancakes, sausage, coffee, orange juice. There will also be opportunities to purchase tickets for a chance to win one of many baskets. Members of Dunedin Youth Guild will be selling tickets in advance of the event.
The following message is from Bonnie Fletcher: School will be starting in our Dunedin schools on August 10th. Again this year, our Dunedin Youth Guild, will be collecting needed school supplies for the Dunedin Elementary School students. There will be two collection sites. You may drop them off at Susy Gizz’s- leave in a basket near her front door or Bonnie Fletcher’s – inside her front porch- before August 6th. Bonnie will deliver them to the school on the morning of Aug. 7th. When Bonnie spoke to the school this morning, they were so thrilled we will be helping out. They need to make sure each student is prepared
DYG has been asked to work another Dunedin Blue Jay game at the stadium. This is an event for kids on July 19th. They need 3 cashiers and one runner from 9:30 am until approximately 1 pm. This is last minute but we just got the call. If you can help please email Layle asap. Also the phone number on the Hamburger Mary flyers is incorrect as I found out when I called to make a reservation and got a doctors office. The number on the email is the right one (727) 400-6996.
